Roaring 20’s

Ever since the release of The Great Gatsby with Leonardo di Caprio, there has been a reemergence and popularization of all things 20s. Fashion trends have long been inspired by those of the past, bringing new and modern twists or incorporating other looks into the inspiration. The rich colors, decadence, and glamour have come back to revisit. Feathers. Jewels. Headpieces. Natural beauty, turned up a few notches with gentle eye makeup and a bold lipstick. These are all evidence of the roaring 20s.

These are all elements that can transform a wedding venue from a run-of-the-mill event into one that will be remembered for a lifetime. Bringing in art deco pieces to the design will help. Geometric designs, starburst mirrors, streamlined construction, interesting color mixtures, animal materials (now duplicated with sustainable, animal-free options).

Incorporating sparkles, mirrors, gold hues, and all around decadence can transform your venue into a 20s themed event. Choosing colors can help. Deep reds or lush purples with gold or bronze accents will bring about the feel of this glamorous period of history. However, quite the opposite can be true too. If deep colors are not your preference, pastels and neutral colors were in style as well...of course accented by shiny and beautiful accessory.

We also see the influence of the 20s fashion in men’s suits. The slim-fit of suits and skinny ties hearkens back to the era of luxury. A sleek navy suit with a crisp white shirt, skinny black tie and pointed toe loafers fit right in with the trends from nearly 100 years ago.

Jewel detailed dresses like the one seen in the photo above were a fixture in the fashion world. This dress, Tallulah, by Catherine Deane fits the bill for a Roaring 20s themed wedding. The jewelled open back and the flowing ethereal skirt. Holding a bouquet of nontraditional, bold-colored flowers and pinning your hair with a sparkling hair piece will create a beautiful 20s look for your wedding.
